The New World, Sharjah Interlude
November 17-22, 2018
Foundland Collective’s workshop explores and responds to how waves of immigrants from the Middle East, especially from Syria, have managed to establish themselves in the UAE. They have survived by developing small businesses, often related to food and hospitality. The collective draws parallels between the historical Syrian community, Little Syria, which developed in New York City between 1880-1940, and present-day Syrian communities in Sharjah.
Together with participants, Foundland Collective introduces and publicly presents the workshop results from The New World, Sharjah Interlude.
