Head of Department: Uzma Z. Rizvi
The Department of Mapping Margins evokes the future of critical design while providing strategies to de-center and de-colonize disciplinary lines of control. It takes place as a series of communal feasts, conversations, and pedagogical experiments. Margins are by nature fluid, always in a state of becoming. Each conversation manifests the discursive possibilities that emerge during the biennial; every point that locates a margin will open up nodes of discussion to map present and possible futures. Some conversations are more speculative, others are slow, and some ephemeral, yet each is part of the whole. The Department of Mapping Margins cannot be fixed, normative, or fast: it reflects the many ways one might experience the Ministry of Graphic Design.
