The Hyberbolic Ornament

The Hyperbolic Ornament is a site-specific installation in the form of a curtain. Textiles, digital animation, and sound interact in this work to question, expand, and confuse norms of spatial legibility. As it shifts between foreground and background — referencing the way graphic design functions in the public space — the installation proposes the ornamental as a method to transgress ideas around beauty, recognition, and neutrality.
